Today, demographic trends are moving patients to the age when they can benefit from The Cooper Companies' products.

CooperVision
The "baby boom" generation is becoming older and their vision is changing. Traditionally that has meant they are likely to discontinue wearing contact lenses. Vision conditions that are commonly associated with aging include dry eye, presbyopia, or "aging eyes," and Computer Vision Syndrome. CooperVision has specialty lenses designed to address each of these conditions.

On the other hand, their children, the "echo generation," are now teenagers, the age when individuals first become candidates for contact lenses. In many markets, teens are the fastest growing segment of the contact lens market. In addition, a rising incidence of myopia among today's youth signals that this group may benefit more than previous generations from products such as specialty contact lenses. CooperVision markets lenses in a variety of categories to address the needs of this important patient segment, including lenses for astigmatism, cosmetic applications (opaque and tinted lenses for eye color enhancement), as well as daily wear and disposable lenses.

While different patient groups have different vision needs, patients in all segments of the marketplace agree on what matters most to them as patients and consumers. For that reason, all CooperVision lenses deliver:
  1. Visual acuity

  2. Comfort

  3. Ease of handling

  4. A fair price

CooperSurgical

Female members of the "baby boom" generation are driving a rapid increase in the middle age population. If this trend continues as expected, patient visits to obstetricians and gynecologists will increase by 13 percent over the next decade. Consistent with an aging population, menopausal problems will drive this increase, as will a continuing trend towards delaying the age of childbearing.

While general practitioners play an important role in women's primary care, 29 percent of all office visits for this group are to the Ob/Gyn. Because two-thirds of patient visits are for annual check-ups, cancer screenings, menstrual disorders, vaginitis, osteoporosis and the management of menopause, CooperSurgical's portfolio is built to support the widening number of disorders the Ob/Gyn is diagnosing and treating.
